Unfortunately there is a third type, which is the most annoying: people who think they know math and love it, but what they actually know is some heavy machinery or technique designed to deal with some applications, which they don't truly understand because they completely miss the point of math and have never seen a proof in their lives (these people are mostly engineers). These are the worst because they'll go around rambling and bragging about their knowledge of math, for example making it sound like doing higher math amounts to applying the Fourier Transform to a signal, without understanding how or why or when such thing actually makes sense. These people don't understand definitions AT ALL (they are completely unable to give definitions of the concepts they talk about and will always misunderstand you when you try to define something to them), lack knowledge of the most basic mathematical concepts, first and foremost logical reasoning, set theory, etc., have no understanding of proofs (to them proofs are unnecessary, and they are also insensitive to their elegance and beauty), and they will always try to nuke a problem, no matter how simple, by having recourse to heavy mathematical artillery which they have no real understanding of, and most of the time don't know how to use properly. And there is no way to make them see how fundamentally wrong they are, because that's just how their brain works.
